The building was completed in 1989 by I. M. Pei (1917–2019). There is no freedom of panorama in France. The copyright term of the country is 70 years, and the image can be undeleted in 2090 A1Cafel (talk) 16:24, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
- Fine, just add it to the 300+ in Category:Louvre Pyramid-related deletion requests. Note: This image is similar to File:Palais du Louvre at night in 2007 08.jpg. I don't understand the reasoning but do as you see fit. I don't get the whole organization of Wikimedia. Sure, A1Cafel proposes a deletion and there's a discussion. Who actually makes the decision? Who's the decider? And what standards do they use to make the decision? I've run into a need to explain my work to several people, who may or may not have any authority. Wikimedia needs to make clearer (i.e., if it already exists, where is it?) the decision-making process and who are the people with what authority?
- So, do whatever you feel is correct. I'm not going to justify my work any more than a general reference as I've done in the first two sentences. When the frustration becomes too much, I'll just stop volunteering. Great system that pushes the volunteers it's dependent upon out of the system. Chris Light (talk) 19:19, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Chris Light ! The decision is made by Wikimedia Commons admins ; we're elected based on both the community trust and our ability to understand international copyright laws. The main policy we have to enforce is to guarantee to people using Commons images that they're freely reusable. It means complying with copyright laws, which are very frustrating. I'm part of the team that worked to change France law so that images like this picture could be kept in Commons, but we failed. So now we have to delete all images of buildings in France if the architect has not been date for 70 years -_-'. Léna (talk) 12:55, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
